January 2010
THE VILLAGE PUMP FOLK CLUB.
Hi everyone,
Hope this finds you all well and the Christmas/New Year period was a success. I am sending out this second edition of the January issue of your favourite newsletter due to the large number of returns from my service supplier due to all sorts of reasons such as ‘unroutable address, invalid recipient, service not available, etc. I’ve just spent most of this morning updating the mail-out list. So here is either your second or first copy of the January issue depending on the changes. It’s amazing how badly some folk write their email address and then wonder why they don’t get emails. End of John’s moan, 2010 looks like quite a year for the folk club. Since the last issue of VPNews we have had some great nights with Mike Silver, Graham Ball, Harvey Andrews and The Carrivick Sisters. Add to this a couple of very enjoyable Open Mic Nights and you will see that 2009 was a huge artistic success. The club and building are run by an ace team of enthusiasts (dirty word for some) who put in a lot of time and not a small amount of their own money into turning the venue and its folk club back at the forefront of the British folk scene. Don’t forget, if you would like to get involved with the venue give me a ring and you can come along to our next meeting to be roped in.

SHOW OF HANDS @ THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL.
The forth visit of our fave trio to that big building in London is being talked about. As soon as I have any news I will put in the VPNews and I hope to arrange a coach from Wiltshire for the night, more later.
CONCERTS AT THE ARC THEATRE.
Our annual VILLAGE PUMP NIGHT FOR DOROTHY HOUSE was a great success. With a line up of purely home grown talent a truly top quality night of entertainment raised somewhere near £1200 for Dorothy House. Book the first Saturday of December 2010 in your diary now, already yet another top quality night is certain with quite a few artists who could not make last years booked to appear. As soon as the snow clears I will be popping into The Arc to arrange some more dates for this year to add to the next big name Pump night at the Arc when we welcome RICHARD DIGANCE on February 6th.
For ticket sales, etc, ring 08452990476.
THE VILLAGE PUMP MEMORIAL BENCH
If you log on to GOOGLE EARTH and find Stowford the area has been up-dated. The festival tents have now gone but if you click on a little blue square over the road you will see a nice picture of the post we put up when Pat and I first installed the bench. So our little bench now rates a mention on Google. How about that then.
Hopefully I will have some information about Wiltshire’s Folk festivals for the next issue which WILL (hopefully) be sent out before Feb 1st.
