Hi everyone,
Hope this finds you well. Since the last issue of VPNews we have lost another player in the Village Pump story. Brian Meades came down from the deapest midlands with a band of volunteers from The Red Lion Folk Club to help with any jobs we had for them. Over the years Brian became a fixture at the festival, latterly taking on the role of artist liaison. Brian died a week before this years festival and he will be honoured with a plaque on our memorial bench. Usually I try to install these plaques as soon as possible, but Brian’s family have asked that it is not installed until a date near the festival. To this end I will install the plaque when I go up to clean the brass and cut the grass on Wednesday 20th July 2011, 7-00pm, all welcome.
The latest name to be placed on the bench was our great friend FRED WEDLOCK and we have decided to run a special concert in Fred’s memory on Saturday 18th September at THE PUMP. This should be quite a night with space for as many artists as possible on the night. A special edition of VPNews will escape nearer the date with more information. Hopefully any artists that cannot attend will send a CD or two for the MEGA RAFFLE on the night. All proceeds from the raffle and door will be donated to THE BATH CANCER UNIT.
THE VILLAGE PUMP FOLK CLUB continues to book top quality artists and dates arranged to date are as follows,
